Rokka, Koirala claim Annual Caddie titles

Santosh Rokka and Sushma Koirala won the titles of the RNGC Annual Caddie Golf Championship here at the Royal Nepal Golf Club today.

In the men’s section, Rokka scored 14-over 148 in the 36-hole competition at the par-67 course to win the trophy and Rs 20,000. Rokka played six-over 39 on the first nine holes before carding even-par 34 on the second nine. He then played three-over 36 and five-over 39 in the last 18 holes to register a two-stroke victory over Dinesh Nagarkoti.

Nagarkoti came second with the score of 150 and received Rs 15,000, while Kishan Kaliraj was third at 152. Rohit Acharya and Krishna Nepal shared the fourth position at 154, whereas Bikash Gurung came sixth at 156. Jiwan Thapa (158), Roshan Dangol (162), Anil Tamang (164) and Suresh Lama (170) finished in top 10.

A total of 16 players took part in the tournament and all of them earned their share of cash prizes out of the total purse of Rs 113,500. Rokka also won the most birdies award with birdies, while Kaliraj and Bikash Gurung bagged the longest drive and closest-to-the-pin awards. They received Rs 1,000 each.

In women’s section, Koirala registered a four-stroke victory over Rabina Shrestha and Shanta Magar. Koirala scored 54 on the front nine and shot 51 on the back nine for the total scored of 105. She received trophy and Rs 8,000.

Shrestha played 56 and 53, while Magar shot 54 and 55 on two halves. They earned Rs 4,500 each.

Mariya Giri was fourth at 111, while Ambika Neupane and Tara Karki finished fifth and sixth respectively. Out of the 13 players in women’s section, seven missed the cut after the first nine holes.

RNGC Secretary RM Sherchan and Members Rabin Rana, Mithun Rai and Man Bahadur Limbu and NPGA Advisor Ghana Shyam Thapa handed over the prizes to the winner.
