Roma sack Garcia

ROME: AS Roma have sacked manager Rudi Garcia after a run of poor results, the Serie A club said on Wednesday.

The club are close to appointing Luciano Spalletti for a second spell in the Italian capital, according to media reports.

After briefly going to the top of Serie A early this season, Roma have slipped to fifth after one win in their last seven league games.

Garcia had been in charge of Roma since 2013.

Spalletti, who was in charge of Roma between 2005 and 2009, has been out of work since being sacked by Russia’s Zenit St Petersburg in 2014.
