Timisoara, July 17:

Brazil’s 1994 World Cup-winning side was defeated 4-1 by Romania’s team from that tournament in a charity match organised to raise funds for Romanian flood victims. Romania fielded players such as Gheorghe Hagi, Adrian Ilie, Gheorghe Popescu and Dan Petrescu, while Brazil had Bebeto, Carlos Dunga, Mauro Silva and Taffarel on its lineup. “Unfortunately, we’re not in shape anymore, but we showed that we played our football well and we deserved our place in top soccer,” Hagi said. Organisers raised $322,000 just from a T-shirt auction. It was not clear how much money was raised from ticket sales and TV revenue.
