Royal enter semis

Royal Football Club defeated Boys Union Club 2-0 and advanced to the semi-finals of the 10th Ruslan Falgunanda Gold Cup here today.

Karan Rai scored both the goals for the Darjeeling-based Royal FC. Rai opened the scoring in the 16th minute to give Royal 1-0 lead in the first half. He then doubled the tally in the 74th minute. Rai was named the man of the match and he earned Rs 10,000.

On Friday, Saraswati Youth Club of Kathmandu will take on Jhapa-XI in the first semi-final match.

A total of 10 teams participated in the tournament organised by Phidim Sporting Club and Panchthar District Football Association in memory of National Hero Falgunanda Lingden. Top two teams will receive Rs 400,000 and Rs 200,000 respectively.
