Rupak still best among Nepali amateur golfers

KATHMANDU: Rupak Acharya returned with the best card among the four Nepali golfers for the second consecutive day during the third round of the Nomura Cup 24th Asia Pacific Amateur Golf Team Championship at the par-72 Namseoul Country Club in South Korea today.

The team of Acharya, Wangchen Dhondop and Tashi Tsering carded a total of 246 in the third round. Only three best scores account for the team total. Nepali golfers, held on to the 16th spot with an overall score of 735, 94-stroke off the lead. South Korea lead with a card of 639 in the 21-team field.

Acharya is still the best among the Nepali golfers in the individual standings. Acharya is tied for the 45th position at 235 (80, 76, 79) with Australian Jordan Sherratt. Acharya was among the eight tied for the 35th after the second round. Meanwhile, Dhondop is tied for the 63rd at 245 (79, 84, 82) with Zoheer Ahmad of Fiji and Tsering is tied for 69th at 255 (84, 86, 85) with Lon Lindsy of Guam. Ghale is distant 77th at 267 (86, 91, 90).
