Rupandehi-XI defeated Birgunj United Club 1-0 to enter the final of the Ruslan seventh Simara Gold Cup Football Tournament here today.

Yogesh Gurung scored the solitary goal of the match in the injury time to guide Rupandehi in the championship match. Rupandehi will face Bijay Youth Club of Hetauda in Saturday’s final. Bijay Youth stunned Tribhuvan Army Club in sudden death in the first semi-final match on Wednesday.

At a time when the match was heading towards extra time, Gurung broke the deadlock with a stunning goal moments before the final whistle. In a solo effort, Gurung dodged Birgunj defenders and goalkeeper to slam home the winner that also earned him the man-of-the-match award. The goal came in counter attack after Birgunj’s Bikram Limbu failed to score in one-one-one situation.
