Sachdev wins Thai Golf Cup
Kathmandu, December 17:
Prem Sachdev accumulated 42 points and won the Thai Cup Open Golf Tournament organised by Royal Thai Embassy and Thai Airways International at the Gokarna Forest Golf Resort and Spa to mark the 60th Anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand’s accession to throne and 38th Anniversary of operation of Thai Airways in Nepal.
Played at stableford 3/4 handicap, Charlie Gurung finished second with 40 points. Tashi Ghale won the best gross award with 32 points.
Deepak Rajbhandari won the Thai Customer section title, while Jina Ryu (38) came first in ladies section. Lt Gen KNS Thapa won the senior section title whereas BS Ryu came first among the foreigners. U Aung Khin Soe was the winner among the ambassadors.
Other winners included Gopal Chitrakar (closest to the pin), YD Kwon (longest drive), Binod Shrestha (straightest drive) and Dawa Gurung (booby). The Nepali team of Charlie Gurung, LT Gen KNS Thapa, Deepak Rajbhandari and NK Rai came first in the team event. In all, 117 players including 12 ladies and three teams took part in the tournament.
