Sahara Club of Pokhara thrashed Nepal APF Club 4-0 in the Tuborg Bikash Running Shield International Invitational Football Tournament here at the Campachaur grounds today.

Shiva Subedi scored a brace, while Sushil Lama and Tagun Igitag netted one goal each as Sahara marched into the quarter-finals of the tournament. Sahara slammed home three goals in the first half and added one more in the latter period to send the departmental team packing from the first round. Subedi was named the man-of-the-match and he received Rs 10,000. On Monday, hosts Chitawan-XI defeated Himalayan Youth Club of Kailali in tie breaker.

A total of 15 teams including four from India are taking part in the 12th edition of the knockout tournament which is being held after 16 years. United Club Siwan, United Kurseong Football Club, Apex Football Club of Kalimpong and Sikkim-XI are the team from India. ‘A’ division outfits Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Nepal Police Club, Jhapa-XI and Nepal APF Club along with Chitawan-XI, Himalayan Youth Club of Kailali, Morang Football Club, Sankata Club, Sahara Club of Pokhara and Himalayan Sherpa Club are from Nepal.

The winners will receive Rs 300,000, while the runners-up bag a purse of Rs 150,000. The player-of-the-tournament and fair play team will receive Rs 25,000 apiece, while the highest scorer will get Rs 15,000. Likewise, the man-of-the-match in all the games will be awarded with Rs 10,000 each.
