KATHMANDU: Lalitpur Table Tennis Club is organising the fifth Samjhana Cup International Table Tennis Tournament here from January 31 to February 4.
Around 500 players from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, Japan, France, England and South Korea are expected to participate in the tournament, informed the organisers at a press meet on Thursday.
President of Lalitpur Table Tennis Club Urdip Joshi and Director of Samjhana Laboratory Clinic Ranjana Shrestha Joshi signed the memorandum of understanding. As per the deal, the main sponsors Samjhana Laboratory Clinic will bear 50 per cent of the estimated budget of Rs 2.25 million. The tournament features seven events -singles, doubles and team events in men's and women's categories along with above-40 and above-50 in men's section and women's above-40. Top three in singles and team events will receive Rs 50,000, Rs 25,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively, while the winners in veteran sections will get Rs 20,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.
