Bajracharya, Rana win Citizens Bank Tennis

Kathmandu, April 30

Samrakchyak Bhusan Bajracharya and Mayanka Rana lifted the titles of the fourth Citizens Bank Open Tennis Tournament here today.

In the men’s singles final played at the Dasharath Stadium courts, Bajracharya defeated Kamal Bahadur Bhandari 6-1, 6-4, while Rana edged past her sister Mahika 6-7, 6-2, 6-2 in women’s singles final. The winners received Rs 20,000 each, while the runners-up got Rs 10,000 apiece. Kumar Adhikari and Jitendra Pariyar lifted the men’s doubles title, while Samrakchyak Bhusan Bajracharya and Bibhuti Karki won the mixed doubles title.

Other winners of the tournament included Shree Ram Magar (above-35 veteran), Krishna Raj Ghale (above-45), Manoj Rana (above-55) and Deepak Man Shrestha (above-65). Likewise, Raju Chhetri/Rajesh Chhetri (above-35 doubles), Raju Chhetri and Degendra Thapa (above-45) and Manoj Rana and Chemba Dhundup (above-55) also lifted the titles.

Member Secretary of National Sports Council Keshab Kumar Bista, President of Citizens Bank Shankar Sharma and President of All Nepal Lawn Tennis Association Jyoti Rana handed over the prizes to the winners of the tournament. A total of 158 players participated in the tournament organised by Kathmandu district association under the sponsorship of Citizens Bank Pvt Ltd. The tournament carried a total cash purse of Rs 200,900.
