Katuwal bags titles

KATHMANDU: Santosh Katuwal of Saptari won the titles of the second Rajan Memorial Inter-liquor Badminton Tournament here at the Bull’s Gym today.

Katuwal defeated Pemba Sherpa of Kathmandu 21-18, 13-21, 21-19 in the men’s singles final and later teamed up with Sunil Pariyar to beat Lalitpur’s Kabhi Basnet and Prahlad KC 21-16, 14-21, 21-15 in the men’s doubles final.

Likewise, Kishor Bhattarai of Sagar Distillery defended the veteran singles title with a 21-5, 23-21 victory over Pranesh Shrestha of Jawalakhel Group of Companies.

Players from 150 liquor associations of the country took part in the event organised by Federation of Liquor Association of Nepal in memory of FLAN Member Rajan Sapkota.

Vice-president of FNCCI Rajendra Malla and Chief-of-Marketing at Jawalakhel Group of Industries Prabir Kumar Nag handed over the prizes to the winners. Meanwhile, the organisers felicitated international umpire Deepak Thapa for his achievement in the Rio Olympic Games.
