SIMARA: Saraswoti Youth Club defeated hosts Nava Janajagriti Youth Club 2-0 in the opening match of the Simara Gold Cup here on Thursday.

Tirtha Basnet and Janom Man Ligal scored a goal each for the Kathmandu-based Saraswoti. Basnet opened the scoring in the 20th minute before Ligal doubled the tally five minutes later.

Dipesh Shrestha of Saraswoti was named the man-of-the-match and received Rs 5,000.
