Sautha set date with Social
Kathmandu, August 3:
Sautha Higher Secondary School of Morang and Social Public Secondary School of Pokhara entered the final of the Coca-Cola Cup Inter-school National Football Tournament here on Sunday.
Sautha overcame the two-goal deficit to beat Don Bosco Nilgiri Boarding School 3-2. Kuldeep Sunuwar put Don Bosco ahead in the 17th minute before Bikram Dhungana doubled their lead in the 32nd minute. Sautha bounced back after Prakash Giri replied in the 37th and Megh Raj Budhathoki scored the equaliser in the 46th. Santosh Saling then scored the winning goal for Sautha 11 minutes into the added time.
Social edged out Gyankunja Boarding School of Pokhara 4-1 in tie-breaker after a 2-2 draw. Sirish Thakali gave Gyankunja the lead in the 23rd minute only to be equalised by Puspa Chhetri 12 minutes later.
Nitesh Shrestha conceded an own-goal to put Social 2-1 ahead in the 45th minute but Tek Ale extended the match with an injury-time equaliser. Social won the match 4-1 in tie-breaker after both the teams failed to break the 2-2 deadlock in the 20 minutes of extra-time.
The final is on Tuesday.
