Kathmandu, April 19:

Seven-A-Side Football Federation (SFF) is organising the first Pepsi International Seven-A-Side Inter-Club Football Tournament in Pokhara from April 26.

A total of 16 teams will take part in the tournament, which offers a cash prize of Rs 125,000. The best player of the tournament, man of the match and a disciplined team will also be awarded, said the organisers at a press meet today.

Apart from the cash prizes and medals to the winners, the organisers will also select a team that will represent Nepal in the fifth South Asian Seven-A-Side Football Tournament slated for June in Sri Lanka, informed SSF general secretary DV Nepali.

“The sponsors, Barun Beverages, have signed a three-year contract with us,” Nepali said. The organisers have formed two teams — Pokhara ‘A’ and Pokhara ‘B’ — for the event. Others who have confirmed their registration are Manang Marsyangdi Club, Tribhuvan Army Club, Ranipokhari Corner Team, Jawalakhel Youth Club, Kathmandu Football Club, Dharan Club, Rupandehi-XI, Morang Club, Trinity Club, Itahari and Adidas. Clubs from United Kingdom, Hong Kong and India are also in the list.

The organisers have formed the 101-member main organising committee under SFF President Nabin Pun, 51-member advisory panel and various 13 sub-committees to run the event smoothly.
