Seventh National Games postponed, again

Kathmandu, October 25

The National Sports Council has postponed the seventh National Games for the third time.

The Games was scheduled for November 23-30 in the Eastern Region and NSC Member Secretary Keshab Kumar Bista said that the event had to be postponed after the sports governing body failed to get approval of the financial norms from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

“We had sent the financial norms to the MoYS some three months ago. However, the MoYS was unable to get the consent of the Ministry of Finance to spend the budget through cabinet,” informed Bista. This is the third time the NSC postponed the Games. The Games was originally scheduled to be held from November 27 to December 4 last year before the NSC postponed it for March 1-6.

The NSC on Sunday postponed the regional selection tournaments, which were slated for November 8-18. Bista said that the NSC was determined to hold the Games this year. “We are planning to organise the Games from December 13 or 14 and we will have the regional selection from November 28. The new dates will be decided by NSC board meeting slated for November 10.”
