Shankar Dev beat Nobel College

Raju Basnet scored 63 runs and took four wickets as Shankar Dev Campus defeated Nobel College by 150 runs in the inaugural match of the 3rd Vice-Chancellor Running Shield Cricket Tournament, which has been organised by Free Students Union of Tribhuvan University, here today. Batting first Shankar Dev Campus scored 230 runs losing nine wickets in the reduced 33 overs. Opener Ajit Jha fell for three runs, while other opener Amit Pandey scored 26 off 52 balls. Anunay Basnet scored 15, while Raju Basnet hit six boundaries and two sixes in his 43-ball 63. Diwas Bajra charya scored 22 off 20 balls, while Bikel Shahi remained unbeaten on 37 off 20 balls which included six fours. For Nobel, Khushid Alam took four wickets conceding 43 runs in seven overs, while Sudip Tamrakar grabbed three wickets giving away 46 runs in six overs. In reply, Nobel College were packed off for 80 runs in 27 overs. Opener Sabip fell to Manish in the first ball of the innings, while other opener Suraj scored 17 runs.

Sandesh remained unbeaten on 18 and Deep Jung scored 14 runs.

For Shankar Dev, Raju Basnet took 4-22 in seven overs, while Manish, Bikel and Diwash grabbed two wickets each.

On Saturday, Campion College will take on Kathmandu Campus. Earlier, Prof Dr Gobinda Prasad Sharma, vice chancellor of TU, inaugurated the Valley-wide Inter-College tournament. Jai Kumar Nath Shah, president of Cricket Association of Nepal, and TU Campus chief Prof Dr Shekhar Gurung expressed their views.
