Sherchan lifts trophy
KATHMANDU: Rajendra Man Sherchan claimed the Myanmar Ambassador Cup Golf Tournament here at the Royal Nepal Golf Course today.
Sherchan scored 29 points to win the championship while UK Dayananda finished second with 28 points. Pabitra Yakthumba won the ladies’ section title with 34 points, one more than runner-up Mi Kim. Bishwonath Rai ended up as the senior section winner ahead of runner-up Madhukar Yakthumba.
Khadga Jit Baral ended up as the Octagenarian (above 80yrs) winner while Himalaya Shumsher Rana was the runner-up in the category. Yoo Ok Hee bagged the Diplomatic section honour ahead of runner-up Pyo Jung Chil. Other winners include Niraj SJB Rana (longest drive), Sreejay Acharya (closest-to-the-pin), Dorje Chhiring Sherpa (best gross), Mithun Rai (most birdies) and Robindra Raj Vijayananda (best sportsmanship).
In all 80 golfers, including eight ladies, took part in the tournament played under stableford format with full handicap allowance.
