Shiva Ram takes lead
Kathmandu, December 19:
Shiva Ram Shrestha produced the best card of the tournament to take one-stroke lead over Ram Thapa on the third day of the second CMS Cup Golf Tournament at the Royal Nepal Golf Club (RNGC) today.
Shiva Ram carded two-under par 65 to leap-frog from fourth position to the lead. Shiva Ram is six-over 207 after the third round, one-stroke lead over Ram Thapa who finished with three-over 70 today. Shiva Ram had 74 and 68 while Ram Thapa had 69 each in the first two rounds.
Leader in the first two rounds, Deepak Neupane dropped to third place after a round of six-over 73 for an overall score of eight-over 209. Purna Sharma and Mani Rai are tied for fourth place with an overall score of 10-over 211. Purna carded one-over 68 while Mani finished with five-over 72.
Ramesh Nagarkoti climbed up to sixth from 10th place and is six-shot behind the leader after carding one-under 66. Surya Sharma (70, 76, 69) and Pashupati Sharma (67, 77, 71) are tied for the seventh with 14-over 215.
In the amateurs’ section, Tashi Ghale opened up a wide gap to take an 11-stroke lead over Rupak Acharya and Krishna Hari Mizar. Ghale carded seven-over 74 for an overall score of 12-over 213. Rupak carded eight-over 75 while Mizar had a round of five-over 72 to finish joint second. Jaya Ram Shrestha, Raj Pradhan, Dorji T Sherpa, Om Thakuri, Gopal Chitrakar and Megh Raj Baral are in fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh, eight and ninth respectively.
