Shrestha defeats Lama, enters semi-finals

Kathmandu, December 13

Tribhuvan Army Club boxers Dipak Shrestha and Suresh Nepal advanced to the semi-finals of the 12th South Asian Games selection tournament here at the Dasharath Stadium on Sunday.

Shrestha defeated Suman Lama of Nepal Police Club, while Nepal TAC beat Suman Lama of Nepal APF Club in the 64kg weight category. In another matches of the same weight category, Yadhav Thapa of Rupandehi beat Bipin Roka Magar of Rolpa and Niwas Tandukar of Naxal defeated Anuj Bhandari of Lalitpur.

In men’s 60kg, Dan Bahadur Darlami of TAC defeated Yuvraj Karki of Naxal, Kishor Sharma of Naxal beat Dipesh Sharma of Lalitpur, Puran Rai of APF thumped Samir Gurung of Lalitpur and Bhupendra Thapa of NPC routed Naresh Dewan of Tribhuvan Army Club to enter semi-finals.

In men’s 49kg, Madan Krishna Dangol of Naxal entered the semi-finals beating Chandra Bahadur Thapa from Rolpa, while Ganesh Bohara from Bajura defeated Aas Tamang of APF, Sushil Thapa of Naxal overcame Teju Pun Magar from Lalitpur. Prem Chaudhary of TAC, Sulav Raj Tuladhar of Sunsari, Shakti Lama of Naxal and Subash BK of TAC booked last four berths in men’s 52kg category.

In 56kg, Dinesh Chand of APF and Bimal Roka of TAC entered to the semi-finals. Likewise, Bishu Prasad (69kg) of TAC and Dipesh Lama (75kg) of APF entered last four.
