Shrestha finishes 10th

Kathmandu, August 31:

Nepal’s professional golfer Shiva Ram Shrestha finished 10th at the Tamil Nadu Open Golf Championship in Chennai on Saturday.

Shrestha carded one under 69 in the fourth round for a total of four under 276 that tied him for the 10th position with Indian golfers R Srinivas, Vivek Bhandari, Yusuf Ali and Rafick Ali Mollah at the par-70 Madras Gymkhana Club.

Shrestha carded two under 68 in the first round before playing three over 73 in the next round. His best card came in the third round with four under 66.

Another Nepali golfer, Toran Shahi failed to make the cut after the rounds of five over 75 and six over 76 on the first two days. The event was a part of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI).

Mukesh Kumar won the championship by 11 strokes. Mukesh finished with a total of 21 under 259, a course record for four rounds at the Madras Gymkhana Club. Mukesh broke the previous record of 18 under held by Digvijay Singh. Sanjay Kumar came second with a total of 10 under 270.
