Shrestha wins Everest Cup

Kathmandu, April 10:

Pradeep Kumar Shrestha won the Everest Golf Cup, sponsored by Everest Hotel at Royal Nepal Golf Course, here today. Played at Stableford Handicap 7/8 format, Shrestha finished the day with 38 points, one point ahead of Chuda Bahadur Bhandari. Bhandari, who gathered 36 points, also bagged the best gross award.

Maj Mani Prasad Rai won the senior section (55 years and above) award with net 34 points on count back, while he also became the golfer nearest to the pin at Hole No 14. Shastika Shrestha emerged the ladies winner on count back after she was tied with Uma Tewari at 30 points each.Deep Bahadur Basnet, with four birdies to his credit, bagged the most birdies award. Spandan Lama won the Longest Drive award at Hole No 11. Indra Thapa, who gathered 11 points, was declared the booby winner. Shariq Lari, executive director of Everest Hotel, gave away prizes to the winners of the one-day event.

Apart from Lari, Siddheshwor Kumar Singh, president of Royal Nepal Golf Club, and Deep Bahadur Basnet, captain of the club, expressed their views on the occasion. In all, 54 golfers including 14 senior and six lady golfers, took part in the eighth edition of the tournament.
