Shrestha wins women’s 100m

Manju Shrestha finished in 14.43 to claim the gold medal in the women’s above 35-yrs 100m race at the second Veterans Open Athletics Championship 2005, which has been organised by Nepal Amateur Veterans Athlete Committee. Bimala Joshi Amatya (16.03) and Rajani Joshi (18.64) came second and third. Khursed Ahamad Khan won the gold in the men’s 35-40yrs section javelin throw with a distance of 50.1m, followed by B M Limbu (31.88m) and Bulal Maharjan (22.17m). In the 40-50-yrs javelin throw, T L Chaudhary (25.03m), Gyanendra Nakarmi (23.73m) and Abhaya Dixit (10.62m) grabbed the top three spots, while Raj Bhagat Pradhananga (27.70m), Sambhu Thapa (22.36m), and Sashi Subedi (20m), came first, second and third in 50-60-yrs section.

In men’s 40-45-yrs 3,000m race, Dipak Ranjeet finished first in 11 minutes 46.14 seconds while Ram Krishna Maharjan won the gold in the 45-50-yrs section finishing in 10:30.10s. In the men’s 50-60-yrs 3,000m,Iswor Das Sayami (14:21.10) and Gopi Thapa Shrestha (14:35.07) came first and second. Other winners included, Dev Lal Maharjan (men’s 35-40-yrs 1,500m); Triratna Maharjan (men’s 40-45-yrs 1,500m); Lila Kr Shrestha (men’s 35-40-yrs 100m); Gautam Majhi (men’s 40-45-yrs 100m); and Chandan Lal Chaudhary (men’s 50-60-yrs 100m).
