SNB memorial cricket tourney from Thursday

Lalitpur, May 10:

Adarsha Vidya Mandir (AVM) Higher Secondary School s organising the first SNB Memorial Inter School Cricket Tournament from May 13 here at St Xavier’s ground. The event is being organised in memory of Sri Narayan Bahadur Shrestha, founder of Tribhuvan Adarsha Vidayalaya of Pharping (1952), Mahendra Adarsha Vidyashram of Satdobato (1959) and Adarsha Vidya Mandir of Manbhawan (1966), said the organisers at a press meet today.

Apart from AVM principal Sujita manandhar and coordinator of the tournament Tarekeshwor, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) vice president Sri Niwas Rana and members Arun Satyal and Amrit Shumsher Thapa were also present on the occasion.

In all, 13 teams of the valley are taking part in the 17-day tournament. The participating schools include AVM, St Xavier’s DAV, Little Flower, Galaxy, LRI, Gyanodaya, Rose Bud, Modern Indian, Bhanubhakta, Kamal English, Brihaspati and Little Angel’s School. As per the fixtures, organisers AVM will take on hosts St Xavier’s in the inaugural match on Thursday. CAN will look after the technical part. The organisers have planned to continue the event yearly, in which a estimated budget of Rs 1,15,000 has been allocated. The organisers informed that the 30-over-a-side matches will be played in matting wicket on knock out basis.

Apart from man of the match award in every match, the organisers will also give the awards to the man of the series, best batsman and best bowler.
