South Asian Judo
Kathmandu, September 5:
Nepal Judo Association (NJA) is organising the second South Asian Judo Championship on September 12-13 in Kathmandu.
A total of 70 players from Nepal, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afghanistan will
take part in the championship. From Nepal, nine in men’s section — Prakash Shrestha, Hemendra Shrish, Trishna Gurung, Devendra Karmacharya, Raj Bahadur Chand, Sriram Makaju, Kaluman Tamang, Kul Bahadur Rawal and Rajan Joshi — and seven in women’s section — Olympian Devu Thapa, Kaushila Rai, Radhadevi Rai, Ranju Rai, Sunita Magar, Indira Rai and Saraswoti Thapa — have been selected for the championship, said the organisers at a press meet on Friday.
Ila Karki was also selected in the above 78kg weight category, but the NJA has decided not to field any player in the category after Karki was injured during training. Rishi Ram Pradhan, Rajesh Karmacharya and Dhruba Shrestha are the coaches in the Nepali team.
