Spain beat Bosnia 3-1 in Euro 2016 warm-up

ST GALLEN: Forward Manuel "Nolito" Agudo scored two first-half goals to lead Spain to a 3-1 win over 10-man Bosnia in a warmup match on Sunday for the European Championship.

The two-time defending champion prevailed despite playing with a depleted squad and with coach Vicente del Bosque testing out several players ahead of Tuesday's deadline for teams to announce their final Euro 2016 squads.

Del Bosque gave a chance for three newcomers to start — goalkeeper Sergio Asenjo, defender Hector Bellerin and midfielder Marco Asensio.

Nolito took a big step in securing his spot on the team with an impressive brace in Switzerland. The Celta Vigo player opened with a well-placed strike from inside the area in the 11th minute and added to the lead with a remarkable lob over the goalkeeper in the 18th, finding the top corner from a tough angle.

"When I have my chances I always try to do my best," Nolito said.

Bosnia pulled one closer through Emir Spahic's header in the 28th before Pedro sealed victory in second-half injury time.

Bosnia, which did not qualify for Euro 2016, played the entire second half with 10 men because Spahic was sent off for trying to shove a Spanish player after an altercation just before halftime.

Spain played better during most of the match but Bosnia had several chances to equalize near the end.

It was Spain's first of three warmup games. It will also play South Korea on Wednesday in Austria, before hosting Georgia on June 7.

Spain's first Group D match at Euro 2016 is against the Czech Republic on June 13 in Toulouse, followed by Turkey on June 17 in Nice and Croatia on June 21 in Bordeaux.

Del Bosque was without several of his top players in St. Gallen, including those from Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid, who played Saturday in the Champions League final in Italy. Among the absentees were Sergio Ramos, Juanfran Torres, Dani Carvajal and Isco Alarcon.

Del Bosque isn't expected to have all of his players available until next Saturday, just six days before the European tournament begins.
