Special Court acquits CAN officials of corruption

KATHMANDU: The Special Court on Thursday acquitted Cricket Association of Nepal officials including its President Tanka Angbuhang of corruption charges.

A division bench of Justices Mohan Raman Bhattarai, Bhupendra Prasad Rai and Narendra Kumar Siwakoti offered clean chits to the officials in the one year and five month old case.

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority on June 8, 2014 had filed a case against 18 CAN office-bearers including President Angbuhang, General Secretary Ashok Nath Pyakuryal and Treasurer Raju Babu Shrestha at the Special Court.

The 18 officials had later stepped down on moral grounds handing over the responsibilities to TB Shah.

After death of Shah in January2015, Deepak Koirala is leading the cricket governing body as as the acting President.
