Surya Nepal Golf Tour: Tshering Sherpa clinches title

Kathmandu, May 24:

Ang Tshering Sherpa claimed the amateur section title at the Golfer Pilot’s NPGA Classic Pro-am here at Le Meridien Gokarna Forest Resort and Spa today.

Sherpa sank three birdies on hole No 3, 6 and 16 for 39 stableford points. Runner up Maj Prabin Khadka scored 37 points.

Professional golfer Shiv Ram Shrestha teamed up with amateur teammates AT Sherpa, Indra Lamichanne and Lt Gen KNS Thapa to win the Pro-Am section. Shrestha led team earned 140 points. Pro Bishnu Neupane and his team Ang Norbu Sherpa, Eu Hazur Thapa and Maj MB Limbu scored 138 points.

Pro Ram Thapa and his team of Niraj Rana, Dil Gurung and Jan Morrenhof ended up third with 133 points on the count back. Shiv Ram Shrestha returned the best card amongst the pros with 40. Bishnu Neupane scored 37 and Deepak Neupane 35.

Rabindra Man Shrestha claimed the closest-to-the-pin and TG Shrestha got longest drive award. The most senior pilot golfer Captain Sudhir Rai gave away the prizes.

Pros and the top amateur golfers will now head for the second event of Surya Nepal Golf Tour — Golfer Pilot’s NPGA Classic. The NPGA Classic will tee off at the Tribhuvan Army Officers’ Golf Club on Sunday. This event will be played over 54 holes in three different golf courses — second round at Le Merdien Gokarna and the final 18 holes at the Royal Nepal Golf Course.
