LALITPUR: St Xavier’s Godavari School ‘A’ and Little Angels’ School advanced to the final of the 22nd Father Moran Memorial Football Tournament here on Thursday.

Hosts SXG defeated Moran Memorial School of Jhapa 3-0 on penalties after both the teams played a 1-1 draw in regulation period of 60 minutes.

Yuvaraj Rajbanshi had put Moran ahead in the 18th minute before Sabal Maharjan levelled the scores in the 35th minute. Budhrai Hasda of Moran was named the man of the match.

In another semi-final match, LA hammered Crescent Academy 4-1. Sovakar Rokaya of Crescent opened the scoring in the 17th minute but they failed to preserve the lead. Lakshya Maharjan levelled the scores in 27th minute before Samrat Tamrakar put LA ahead in the 38th minute.

Prajwal Raj Bhatta and Bhargab Silwal also found the back of the nets to seal the victory for LA.

Rimmon Manandhar of LA was named the man of the match. The third-place playoff and final matches are scheduled for Saturday.
