TAC enter final

Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) advanced to the final of the International Invitational Hetauda Gold Cup Football Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Regal Hetauda Resort FC on Wednesday.

In the match played at the Forestry College grounds in Hetauda, Tanka Basnet and Balkrishna Shrestha scored a goal each for TAC. Basnet provided lead to TAC in the 28th minute through a strike from the edge of danger box. Shrestha sealed the victory for

TAC through a goal in the 97th minute off Santosh Tamang’s corner. TAC will take on the winners of Laxmi Hyundai Manang Marshyangdi Club and Sahara Club.

TAC coach Meghraj KC said their target was to win the final. “We are expecting Nawayug Shrestha and Bikesh Kuthu in the final.” Regal Hetauda Resort coach Bijay Lal Shrestha said the boys failed to convert the chances they had. “We were poor at the finishing and our strikers were not in form.”

A total of eight teams are competing in the tournament. Winners will be awarded with Rs 300,000, while the runners-up will receive Rs 150,000.

The tournament is organised in memory of late Suman Bhomjan, who lost his life in the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal on April 25 last year claiming more than 8,500 lives.
