TAC, NPC record victories
Kathmandu, May 21
Army Club and Nepal Police Club won their matches of the Kwik’s Nepal Basketball League here on Tuesday.
Table toppers TAC defeated Golden Gate International Club 75-61 in their home match. TAC opened seven-point lead by winning the first quarter 19-12 before GGIC levelled the scores at 38-all when they took the second period 26-19.
TAC trailed by two points after GGIC won 14-12 in the third quarter but the departmental side bounced back strongly in the last period and netted 25 points restricting GGIC to just nine points.
Ayush Singh of TAC top scored with 13 points.
The win was ninth for TAC in 10 matches and they lead the table with 19 points.
GGIC have won five matches and they are third with 15 points.
In another match, NPC beat South Siders 74-63. NPC fell 19-18 behind in the first quarter but they won remaining three periods to register comprehensive victory for their fourth win in eight matches.
NPC won 16-10 in the second quarter before extending the lead by three points by taking the third period 18- 15. NPC then won the final quarter 22-19. Jasang Sunwar of NPC netted 14 points and he also had 10 rebounds and three assists.
A total of eight teams are taking part in the home-andaway format tournament organised by Play For Deprived Children Nepal.
