TAC, WWBA register double victories

Lalitpur, June 2

Tribhuvan Army Club and Pokhara registered double victories on the opening day of the second Turkish Airlines Engage Empowering League here at the British School courts today.

TAC defeated Jawalakhel Wheelchair Sports Club 41-31 in the inaugural match riding on Raju Katuwal’s 24 points. In the last match of the day, TAC outplayed Chitwan 44-6 and Katuwal was the top scorer again. He netted 26 points.

In other men’s section matches, Pokhara defeated Nepal Spinal Cord Injury Sport Association 14-8, and returned to beat Wheelchair Sports Association 24-16 in which Bharat Baniya netted 14 points. Also, Bodhisatwas In Action overwhelmed Chitwan 28-2, Jawalakhel Wheelchair Sports Club thrashed Nepalgunj 32-2, and Spinal Cord Injury Rehabilitation Centre defeated Nepalgunj 20-2.

In women’s section, Women Wheelchair Basketball Association registered double victories. They defeated Wheelchair Sports Association 12-4 and returned to beat Nepal Spinal Cord Injury Sport Association 12-0. Also, Bodhisatwas In Action beat Jawalakhel Wheelchair Sports Club 16-4.

A total of 14 teams — nine in men’s and five in women’s sections — are taking part in the event.
