KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 18

Top Nepali amateur golfer Subash Tamang carded even-par 70 to share the sixth position after the first round of the 88th Singa Thailand Amateur Open Championship at the Panya Indra Golf Club in Bangkok today.

Tamang took the turn at one-under 34 on the front nine before playing oneover 36 on the latter half. He opened the campaign by saving pars on the first six holes and carded two straight birdies on the seventh and eighth. Tamang dropped a shot on the ninth before taking the turn.

On the back nine, Tamang faced a bogey on the 13th and saved pars on eight holes. He is tied for sixth position with 10 other golfers.

Another Nepali player, Sadbhav Acharya played a round of four-over 74 and was at the 36th position. He played three-over 38 on the front nine and added one-over 36 on the latter half. He suffered a double bogey on the fourth hole and dropped shots on the fifth and ninth holes against a lone birdie on the seventh. Acharya carded a birdie on the 13th but went on to drop shots on the next two holes.

V Natthakritta carded five-under 65 to take three-stroke lead over fellow Thai golfer K Nippit. Singapore's Malixi Rianne Mikhaela and Thailand duo K Siripimlapat and T Norasead shared the third position at one-under 69.
