Tamang siblings clinch badminton trophies

Tamang siblings Nangsal and Ratnajit won the titles of the National Badminton Tournament here at the Mahendranagar covered hall today.

In women’s final match, TAC shuttler Nangsal defeated Nepal APF Club’s Shichhya Shrestha 21-13, 21-14 to claim her third consecutive national tournament title. Nangsal, who teamed up with Anumaya Rai, also won the women’s doubles title beating APF duo of Pooja Shrestha and Shichhya Shrestha 21-19, 21-15.

In men’s singles final, TAC’s Tamang came from a set down to beat APF’s Dipesh Dhami. The APF shuttler claimed the first set 21-19 but Tamang bounced back to win second set 21-6 and third one 21-12 to seal the victory.

Similarly, Tamang, who teamed up with Nabin Shrestha, won the men’s doubles gold medal with a 21-19, 21-14 victory over the APF’s Dipesh Dhami and Bijit Thapa Magar. In mixed doubles final, the Tamang siblings beat APF duo of Bijit Thapa Magar and Shobha Gauchan 16-21, 21-19, 21-10. Meanwhile, APF won team event gold medal.
