Taplejung defeat Rautahat

Taplejung won the title of the ANFA Women’s League Championship Football Tournament here today.
Taplejung defeated Rautahat 2-0 in the final match riding on a brace from Bhujunga Rai. Rai opened the scoring in 23rd minute and added another in 55th minute.
Champions Taplejung received Rs 300,000 along with the trophy, medal and certificates, while runners-up Rautahat bagged Rs 150,000.
Taplejung also dominated the individual award winning four of the five titles. Lila Lamgade was named the best goalkeeper, while Gita Rana bagged the best defender’s award. Likewise, Anita Basnet was declared the best midfielder and Dev Kumar Maden was named the best coach of the tournament. Rashmi Kumari Ghising of Rautahat was adjudged the best forward. All the five best individuals received Rs 15,000 each.
A total of 28 teams took part in the tournament organised by All Nepal Football Association under the auspices of District FAs Palpa and Syangja. The teams were divided into two pools with Palpa and Syangja hosting the group-stage, quarter-finals and semi-final matches.
ANFA President Narendra Shrestha, honorary Vice-president Hari Prasad Shrestha, Member Ramesh Rayamajhi and Palpa FA President Bhimsen Karki handed over the prizes.
