KATHMANDU: Swimmer Alex Shah and coach Shankar Karki on Sunday left for Japan to prepare for the Tokyo Olympic Games slated for July 23 to August 8.

Shah and Gaurika Singh will be taking part in the Olympics under Universality places. They will undergo training in Tokushima and move to Olympic Village on July 20.

The winner of four gold medals in the 13th South Asian Games held on home soil in November 2019, Singh will join the team in Tokushima from England.

The Nepal Olympic Committee and Tokushima Prefecture had signed the memorandum of understanding in January 2020 and the training camp is part of the agreement, informed the NOC in a release.

NOC President Jeevan Ram Shrestha and other officials bade farewell to the team.
