KATHMANDU: An 11-member taekwondo team, including seven players, on Wednesday left for the United Arab Emirates to compete in the sixth Fujairah Open Taekwondo Championship slated for February 16-19.

In men’s section, Jaydev Paudel will compete in 73kg weight category, while Rimon Maharjan and Dipendra Bahadur Gurung will take part in 63kg event whereas Binod Thapawill vie in 74kg.

In women’s category, Jasmi Gurung will compete in 44kg, Nima Gurung will take part in 53kg and Sumitra Khatri is scheduled to fight in 73kg.

Team manager Chakra Bahadur Chhetri along with coaches Roshan Khan, Prakash Man Rajbhandari and Raj Kumar Pandey also accompanied the players to the UAE.
