KATHMANDU: A six-member Nepali team is on Thursday leaving for the United Arab Emirates to participate in the World Skateboard Championship to be held in Sharjah from January 29 to February 12.

Gajendra Bardewa, Basanta Rai, Samikshya Rai and Pemba Shrestha will take part in the championship. Coach Ujjwal Dangol and team manager Ajay Saru will accompany the players to the UAE.

Skateboarding Association President Achyut Khanal said the championship was important for Nepal as it also served as the selection for the Paris Olympic Games.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah and President of Nepal Skating bade farewell to the team on Thursday.
