Tennis tournament

LALITPUR: Rana sisters Mayanka and Mahika entered the U-18 girls’ singles final of the 14th Jayakar Memorial Junior National Tennis Tournament along with Mathema siblings Catherin and Eni here on Wednesday. Mayanka defeated Bibhuti Karki 6-2, 6-1, while Mahika bagged a double bagel against Khushi Pandey. Likewise, Eni beat Bijisha Shrestha 6-3, 6-4 and Catherin earned a walkover win from Ishika Agrawal.  Renjan Lama and Bibek Shrestha set the boys’ section final. Catherin and Eni later combined to beat Era Rawat and Abhilasha Bista 6-2, 6-0 to advance to the girls’ doubles final and will face Rana sisters. In boys’ section, Renjan Lama and Sakshyam Karki will face the duo of Adit Subedi and Saharsha Chand in final. Ishashree Shah and Rayana Shah made it to the U-10 girls’ singles final, while Shivangi Laxmi Shah and Eva Adhikari advanced to the U-19 girls’ final. Likewise, Adit Subedi, Aarav Samrat Hada, Rijan Shrestha and Aki Juben Rawat entered the U-10 boys’ semi-finals, while all the four also booked last four berths in U-19 section. Also, Dipesh KC, Binay Batas, Aryan Giri and Saharsha Chand advanced to the U-14 boys’ semi-finals. — HNS
