Mahendra Thakuri won the title of The Elite Fighter under the South Asian Pro Boxing Championship here at the Club Fahrenheit today.

The Nepali boxer defeated Indian challenger Sumit Singh in the lightweight category bout, the main fight of the competition. Thakuri earned Rs 60,000, while Singh got Rs 20,000. Md Joynul Islam of Bangladesh was the winner in co-main event after he defeated Ajit Magar of Nepal in the super lightweight category. Islam and Magar earned Rs 30,000 and Rs 15,000 respectively.

Likewise, Bharat Chand defeated Shivalal Gharti Magar in welterweight bout.

Chand and Magar received Rs 20,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively.

Also, Anil Pun Magar of Dang earned a technical knockout victory over Pempa Lama of Manang in the super featherweight category bout between debut boxers. Magar received Rs 10,000 and Lama got Rs 5,000.

In the super bantamweight category, Narayan Bhujel of Udaypur defeated Nisham Gharti Magar from Dang. Bhujel earned Rs 20,000, while Magar got Rs 10,000.

A total of five bouts were played in the Fight Night organised by Nepal Professional Boxing Commission and Max Boxing Promotion.

Boxers from Nepal, India and Bangladesh took part in the championship.

The Fight Night was supported by Momo Junction, Beaker's Leaf, Solmari Restaurant, Chocoffle, e-pharmacy, Fitstop and MMA Fan Nepal. Chairman of Max Boxing Promotion, Manohar Basnet thanked all the supporters for making the event possible. "We were able to organise this event with the help from our supporters and boxing lovers. And we have a team of hard working individuals who have put in their best to make it a grand success," added the former national champion boxer.
