Thapa Magar & team win Pro-Am title

Kathmandu, March 7:

The team of pro Deepak Thapa Magar and amateurs Greesh Bindra, Wanchen Dhondup and Tashi Sherpa won the Pro-Am event of the USA-Nepal Friendship Cup golf tournament here at the Gokarna Golf Club today.

Thapa Magar, who scored 32 points, was drawn with amateurs Bindra (34), Sherpa (35) and Dhondup (34) for a team total of 135 points. Pro Deepak Acharya (31) and amateurs Tashi Tsring (34), Eu Hazur Thapa (34) and Indra Thapa (31) came second with the total of 130 points on count back. Pro Shiva Ram Shrestha (31) and amateurs Chenchok Thinley (39), Maj MB Limbu (31) and MB Raut (29) finished third.

Krishna Hari Mizar brought in the best pro card of 36 stable ford points that earned him Rs 4,000. Pashupati Sharma, Sachin Bhattarai and Rabi Khadka were tied second at 34 and received Rs 2,000 each. Surya Sharma came fifth at 33.

Bhutanese golfer Chenchok Thinley (39) was best among the amateurs, while Suhrid Ghimire (35) came second on count back. Eu Hazur Thapa won the ladies section award with 34 points. Dinesh Nagarkoti won the closest to the pin and Tashi Sherpa bagged the longest drive awards.

NPGA President Rabindra Man Shrestha, Chairman of Gokarna Forest Resort Prem Sachdev and former USPGA pro Steve Marcum gave away prizes to the winners.
