Thapa slams agitating ANFA officials
KATHMANDU: Suspended skipper Sagar Thapa criticised the football officials who have been trying to oust ANFA President Ganesh Thapa. “We are saddened by the way people like Mani Shah, Krishna Bhakta Manandhar, Bijay Narayan Manandhar have given their statements against us,” Thapa told reporters at the Special Court premises. The trio has been agitating against ANFA President Thapa. “They are trying to make space in Nepali football by framing us on false charges,” the tainted skipper Thapa said. “It is because of them we have been facing this charge which has defamed us. Their intention will take a nosedive when we will get clean chit from the court,” he added. In their recorded statements submitted by the police along with charge-sheet, former national team skipper Shah, former national team manager Krishna Bhakta, ANFA Vice-president Bijay Narayan, former national player Mukesh Shahi, and Vice-president of Saraswoti Club Uttam Raj Bhandari have testified that the footballers were involved in match-fixing with the help of ANFA’s high-ranking officials.
