Thing suffers defeat

KATHMANDU: Nepal’s Sanu Maya Thing faced defeat in the 51kg event of the AIBA Youth Women’s World Boxing Championship that kicked off in Guwahati, India on Sunday.

Thing lost to South Korea’s Kim Chaewon in the first round match.

Asmita Duwal will play against D’almeida Gloria of France in the 45-48kg category, while Sisam Thapa Magar will fight against Mauermann Emily of Germany on Monday.

Kusum Tamang, who is competing in the 54kg event, got a bye in the first round and will fight against the winner of the match between Puszka Daria of Poland and Fayzullaeva maftuna of Uzbekistan on Tuesday.
