Three Star, APF win

Kathmandu, January 14:

Nabil Three Star Club beat New Road Team (NRT) 2-0 while Armed Police Force (APF) Officers Club thrashed Sony Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT) 4-0 in the Martyrs’ Memorial San Miguel ‘A’ Division League Football at the Dasharath Stadium today.

Three Star is third in the standings with nine points behind Tribhuvan Army Club who lead with 44 points. Mahendra Police Club is second with 41 points while APF is fourth with 34. NRT (18) is eighth and RCT (17) is ninth. Adidas man of the match Yugal Kishor Rai scored both the goals for Three Star.

Rai’s shot deflected off Ramesh Sinkeman before crossing the goal line in the sixth minute. Rai added another in the 50th minute when he beat two NRT defenders before firing into the nets. Three Star coach Bal Gopal Maharjan was happy that his players found their natural rhythm. “I am satisfied not only with the win but also with the way my players performed,” Maharjan added.

In another match, Ganesh Lawati and Jivesh Pandey scored two goals each for APF. Lawati put APF ahead in the 54th minute when his shot deflected into the nets off RCT skipper Madhu Karki. Pandey doubled their lead a minute later following a cross from skipper Kumar Thapa. Lawati made it 3-0 in the 77th minute before Pandey completed the rout scoring in the 89th minute. Kumar Thapa won the man of the match award.
