Three Star eliminate Armymen, enter final

Kathmandu, June 22:
Surendra Tamang and Pralay Rajbhandari struck twice as Three Star Club (TSC) beat Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) 6-4 in an absorbing semi-final of the Birthday Cup Football Tournament here today.
The Armymen took an early lead but TSC replied with three goals in 10 minutes. TAC took lead through skipper Janamat Karki’s header in the seventh minute. Surendra Tamang scored an equaliser for TSC in the 23rd minute. The Armymen went ahead again through Karki in the 24th minute.
In the 32nd minute, Janak Singh netted an equaliser for Three Star following Rajesh Shahi’s pass. A minute later, Bijay Gurung gave Three Star a 3-2 lead with a fine shot.
In the 55th minute, Surendra Tamang scored his second and the fourth for Three Star on Pralay Rajbhandari’s pass.
Shiva Chaudhari reduced the margin to 4-3 in the 63rd minute. Three Star midfielder Pralay Rajbhandari scored two goals in the 67th and 74th minutes, making it 6-3. Mahendra Khawas of TAC scored the fourth goal in the 86th minute.
On Thursday, MPC will face MMC in the other semi-final.
