Ruslan Three Star Club defeated Brigade Boys Club 5-1 to register their second straight victory in the Pulsar Martyrs Memorial ‘A’ Division League today.

Ranjit Dhimal, Sunil Bal, Ranjan Bista, Nirajan Khadka and Bikram Lama netted one goal each for Three Star, while Rajan Tiwari scored the consolation goal for BBC.

In the match between two Lalitpur-based clubs, Three Star took an early lead
from the spot. BBC defender Dipen Shrestha brought down Three Star’s Nirajan Khadka in the danger zone and Dhimal converted the resulting penalty in the ninth minute.

Three Star came close to doubling the lead at the stroke of half time but forwards Ranjan Bista and Ajayi Martins failed to reach the ball inside six-yard box following a sublime pass from Sunil Bal. Moments later Ranjan Bista could not meet Martins’ pass inside the penalty area.

Three Star doubled the lead in the 51st minute when Sunil Bal made a beautiful finishing on a pass from Ranjan Bista. BBC cut the deficit in the 75th minute when Rajat Tiwari scored from the edge of the area.

Ranjan Bista restored Three Star’s two-goal lead in the 84th minute capitalising on a defensive blunder, while Nirajan Khadka scored on a spectacular volley after collecting a ball outside the area to make it 4-1. Bikram Lama completed the scoring with his team’s fifth goal in the injury time.

With the second straight victory, Three Star moved to the top of the table with six points, while BBC are at the bottom following their second consecutive defeat.

In another match at the ANFA Complex grounds, Nepal Police Club played a goalless draw with Machhindra Football Club.

The draw meant NPC accumulated four points from two matches. The departmental side had defeated Jawalakhel Youth Club in the first round. Machhindra, who played their second straight draw in the league, have two points.
