Hill Town on top

KATHMANDU: Hill Town School, with 14.5 points after the fifth round, are leading the Inter-school Chess Tournament, which has been organised by Pushpa Sadan School. Pushpa Sadan ‘A’ (14) and Pushpa Sadan ‘B’ (13) are in the second and third spots. South Valley School are at fourth place with 10.5 points, followed by Jana Sewa School (9). In individual section, Suvarna Maharjan of Pushpa Sadan, Navin Maharjan of South Valley and Navin Maharjan of Hill Town, each with five points, are the joint leaders. — HNS

Khanal honoured

LALITPUR: Sports journalists Krishna Raj Khanal was felicitated by International Olympic Committee, marking the World athletics Day. General secretary of Nepal Olympic Committee Dhurba Bahadur Pradhan handed over the trophy to Khanal amid a function here at Shuvatara School. Also, the Olympic Day Run was held under the auspices of Nepal Olympic Committee. In all, 1000 athletes, including students, athletes, teachers and locals, took part in the four-kilometre event. — HNS

Spurs warn Blues

LONDON: Tottenham Spurs has given Chelsea until Friday to agree to pay compensation for sports director Frank Arnesen — otherwise, Spurs will make an official complaint to the Premier League that the Blues tried to lure him away. Chelsea could be docked points if found guilty of another breach of Premier League regulations. Arnesen, who joined Spurs a year ago but reportedly wants to move to Stamford Bridge, has been suspended by the north London club until the issue is resolved. — AP
