KATHMANDU: Sun Moon Peace Cup Under-19 Football Tournament is beginning from Saturday with Mahendra Police Club taking on Machhindra Club here at National Police Academy. In all, eight team are taking aprt in the 8-day event, which is being organised by Inter-religious and International Federation for World Peace - Nepal, under the technical assistance of Kathmandu District FA. Other teams are Sun Moon ‘A’ and ‘B’, Sahara Club, Friends Club, Eastern Football Club, and Brigade Boys Club. — HNS
Sotokan beat Kwanmukan
KATHMANDU: Sotokan Dojo beat Kwanmukan Dojo 23-17 and Main Dojo defeated Pachai Bhairav Dojo 17-15 in the men’s team section at the First Senior and Junior Team Karate Tournament which began on Friday. In all, 148 players from 40 dojos — 105 in men’s and 44 in women’s sections — are taking part in various eight categories in the two-day event, which has been organising by Pachali Bhairav Dojo. Earlier, Minister for Information and Communication Tanka Dhakal inaugurated the tournament. — HNS
Betis draw with Bilbao
SEVILLE: Real Betis drew 0-0 with Athletic Bilbao in a first-leg semi-final of the Copa del Rey. The result at Betis’ Manuel Ruiz de Lopera Stadium boosted 23-time winner Bilbao’s chances of reaching the final of Spain’s knockout competition for the first time since 1985. Betis will travel to Bilbao for the second leg on May 11. In the other first leg on Wednesday, Valdo Lopes’ 27th-minute goal earned Osasuna a 1-0 home victory over Atletico Madrid. — AP
