JVTC enter final
KATHMANDU: Both the men’s and women’s beach volleyball team from Nepal, Jawalakel Volleyball Training Centre (JVTC), entered the final at the Pepsi Cup Beach Volleyball Tournament, which is being held in Bangladesh. In Wednesday’s semi-finals, the men’s team of Bharat Bahadur Shah and Prem Bahadur Bhandari beat Bangladesh’s Border Security Force, while the women’s team of Anju Shrestha and Manida Shah came from behind to beat Sister Concern of Bangladesh 13-21, 21-12, 15-5. KATHMANDU: BD Mahajan and Sons (BDM) and East West Couriers are jointly organising the 1st BDM Six-a-side Invitational Cricket Tournament from April 22-24 here at TU Stadium. In all, 12 teams — Nepal Investment Bank, Hotel Yak and Yeti, Nabil Bank, Everest Bank, Kantipur Publications, Qatar Petro Chemicals, Dabur Nepal, Himalayan bank, Embassy of India, Nepal Merchant Banking and Finance, Standard Chartered Bank and Kumari Bank — are taking part in the event, said the organisers at a press meet on Wednesday. — HNS
Itahari (red) triumph
DHARAN: Itahari (red) beat Samrat Sporting Club of Morang 2-1 and entered the semi-finals of the Dan Bahadur Phuyal Memorial Eastern Region-wide Inter-club Gold Cup Football Tournament on Wednesday. Morang’s Binod Dangol opened the scoring in the 20th minute, while Sunil Tamang scored the equaliser four minutes later. Itahari got the winner through man of the match Nirmal Tamang in the 53rd minute. On Thursday, Night Chess Club will take on Himkasturi Club. — HNS

KATHMANDU: Sun Moon Peace Cup will begin from April 23 with Mahendra Police Club taking on Machhindra Club at National Police Academy. Other teams in the event are Sun Moon Team ‘A’, Sahara Club of Pok-hara, Friends Club, Easern Football Club, Sun Moon ‘B’ and Brigade Boys Club. — HNS
