Rai wins Khukuri Cup

DHARAN: Mani Rai win the fourt Dharan Khukuri Cup Golf Tournament, organised by Dharan Golf Club to mark the New Year 2062BS. Played at stroke-play format over 36 holes, Rai finished at 2-over beating Sabin Sapkota by three strokes. Other winners were Buddhiman Sunuwar (amateur), Susan Smith (ladies), Roshan Sapkota (longest drive), Suman Sapkota (best gross) and Nava B Limbu (nearest to the pin).— HNS

Inter-club football begins

POKHARA: Tibetan Camp beat Gauri Shankar Club 2-1 in the inaugural match of the Inter-club Football Tournament, which has been organised by Gauri Shankar Club of Hemja on the occasion of New Year 2062 BS. In all, 18 clubs of Kaski district are taking part in the tournament. On Friday, it’s: Nava Adarsha Club vs Kaji Pokhari and Amar Singh Boys Club vs Sangam Youth Club. — HNS

Lampard, Terry head list

LONDON: Chelsea’s Frank Lampard, John Terry and Petr Cech topped the list of nominees for the Professional Footballer Association’s player of the year award.
