Nepal win six medals
KATHMANDU: Nepal won six medals — three silver and three bronze — in the South Asian Judo Championship he ld in Indore, India. Debu Thapa (57kg), Ranju Rai (52kg) and Radhika Rai (48kg) won silvers, while Lila Adhikari (48kg), Ramesh Dangol (56kg) and Prabinkaji Shrestha (81kg) bagged bronze medals in the championship. Meanwhile, Rishiram Pradhan and Birendra Ranjit passed the referee exams and received IJF Contional Referee ‘A’ and ‘B’ category licence respectively. — HNS
Beach Volleyball
KATHMANDU: Dhorpatan Sports Training Centre is organising the first Open Men’s and Women’s Beach Volleyball Tournament from April 1-7 in Kathmandu. For the grand success of the tournament, a 21-member committee under the convenorship of Manbir Chhantyal, who is also the president of centre, has been formed. According to the organisers, the estimated cost for the tournament is Rs 3,00,000. — HNS
Baniya wins TT title
KATHMANDU: Santosh Baniya of Siddhartha Banasthali won the U-10 title of the fourth Purnaman Bajracharya Memorial Open Table Tennis Tournament here at National Table Tennis Training Centre today. Prabin Sherpa came second while Salim Bajracharya and Sujan Shah finished joint third. The other section finals and Sports journalsits singles tournament will be held on Wednesday. — HNS
